Splatter Nail Art Tutorial

Hello my dear readers, I have a tutorial for you today!  It's super easy, doesn't require any special tools and is very messy!  You start out with a straw and already painted nails.  Then find a lid, piece of plastic, foil or anything you are ok with getting nail polish on and pour some out into a little puddle.

Then roll one end of your straw in the polish, even scooping a bit up in the straw itself.

Then point the paint filled end at your finger and blow with a short, quick, sharp burst to get the best result.

The next step is clean up.  I start with a q-tip soaked in acetone then switch to a brush to really get those clean lines around my cuticle.

Once that is done just seal it with a top coat and your done!

I hope you find this tutorial useful!  I'd love to see your color selections for this technique, so please share them in the comments below.  Be sure to check back soon for more art, tutorials and reviews!

Gray Marbled Stone Mani with Neon Accent Nail

Hello my dear readers!  Today I'm sharing with you another marbled stone look, this time in gray with a neon accent nail!

I used Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Sinful Colors Black on Black and OPI Embrace the Gray for the main colors and the accent has Sinful Colors 24/7 and Essie Secret Story on top of the white and gray.  I did seal it all with a top coat of Seche Vite.

It's a super simple technique and produces great results time and again!  I'll have to do a tutorial for you soon.  Thanks for looking and check back soon!

China Glaze - Keep Calm, Paint On - Swatch & Review

Hello my fellow nail polish addicts!  Today I am reviewing for you China Glaze's Keep Calm, Paint On which is a pastel minty green.

I used a base coat by Sinful Colors, two coats of Keep Calm, Paint on then a top coat of Seche Vite.  I did have some wrinkling on my index, but I bumped my fingers, due to my inability to hold still for more than a few minutes at a time... I also wanted to note that there is a micro shimmer to Keep Calm but it's hard to see in person and practically impossible to photograph. You practically have to have your eyeballs on your nails to see it, but it is there...

Overall I think this is a great formula and a very pretty pastel green, what do you think?  Leave me a comment below and check back soon for more!

Sally Hansen Black & Blue Swatch and Review

Hello my dear readers!  Today I am reviewing for you Sally Hansen Black and Blue from their Complete Salon Manicure line.  I picked this up at my local Walgreens awhile ago but have only just recently gotten around to swatching it.

I used a base coat by Sinful Colors then 3 coats of Black&Blue then a top coat of Seche Vite.  The color shift from blue to purple is easier to see in the bottle than on the nail but it does shift and is quite pretty in person.   I did need 3 coats for full coverage but the formula is not streaky so it wasn't an issue for me.

Overall I like this color but have no idea what I'd do on top of it.  If you have ideas leave me a comment below and check back soon for more reviews and art!

Blue Bling

Hello my fellow nail art enthusiasts!  Today I have a very blue and sparkly and bling-y design to share with you!

I used Zoya Talia for the plain blue and China Glaze I Soiree I Didn't Do It for the sparkly blue.

The silver was done using an Art Club stripper and the rhinestones are from Ebay.  I sealed it all with a liberal coat of Seche Vite.  So what do you think?  Leave a comment below and check back soon for more designs and reviews!

Sally Hansen Velvet Texture Crushed Review & Swatch

Hello my dear readers and fellow polish enthusiasts!  I thought I would go ahead and do another review for you on another Sally Hansen polish I thought I'd try.  I am one of the few that seem to like the textured polish trend so picking up this to try out when I spotted it on clearance was a no brainer!

It does have a texture to it but I wouldn't call it velvet more like spongy rhino lining if that makes any sense...???...anyways, this only took two coats after a base coat but no top coat was used, as usual with textured polish.

It has a square brush which made application tricky near the cuticle but it does dry quicker than most textured polishes which is a bonus in my opinion.

The color on the nail really is the same color as in the bottle which I found surprising but a good surprise.  Overall I like it for what it is and I'm sure it will be perfect for some random mani that just hasn't occurred to me yet but I don't see myself wearing it as it, it's definitely more one for the art side of things.  Have you tried this polish?  If so let me know what you think in the comments below and check back soon for more nail designs and reviews!

Sally Hansen Color Foil in Pink Platinum Review & Swatch

Hello my fellow nail polish enthusiasts!  It's been forever since I did a review and I thought I'd try out a polish that's been around for a while but that I have only recently picked up to try out.  It's Sally Hansen Foil and I've heard good and bad things about it hence my indecision so long on buying it.  Here's what it looks like at two coats without any top coat or base coat per the bottle's instructions.

The bad seems to be that it does leave brush strokes and you can see any imperfections or dents in your nails.  But it does look like foil and I like the finish.  The color is a really pretty metallic pink and the formula wasn't too thick, but it does dry fast so you have to work fast.  I also wanted to note their brush actually spreads well which makes application easier.  It seems to have more pros than cons plus it makes a great base for stamping nail art as you can see below!  :)

I used Sinful Colors Black on Black to do the stamping and a stamping plate that says Flowers-14 on it.  I know I ordered it from the internet but I can't remember if I got it from Amazon or Born Pretty.  Either way here is a quick pic of the plate just in case anyone was curious.

Neon and Black Marbled Nail Art

Hello my lovelies!  Today I am sharing with you a neon and black marbled look I achieved using a my squishy stampers.

I started with two coats of KleanColors Neon Lime.  I then dabbed spots of the Neon Lime and Sinful Colors Black on Black onto the squishy stamper then stamped onto my nail making sure to smear the design to create the marbled look.  It was very messy and the polish dries really fast while on the stamper so it even helps to swirl the polish with a toothpick on the stamper before you stamp onto your nail.  It's really just a trial and error kind of thing while applying layers until you get the look you want.

I did of course seal it with my usual top coat of Seche Vite to give it that shiny polished stone look.  I think it turned out really good and it was even brighter in person!  Thanks for looking and check back soon for more nail designs!

Gun Show Nail Art

Hello my fellow nail artists and fellow polish addicts!  Today I am sharing with you the mani I did recently to go to a gun show.  I just went for fun with my love to see what there was while he scouted for some bullets for his new gun.  There were some cool knives but nothing I actually came home with.  Maybe next time....anyways...on to the nails!  Since my love was looking for bullets I thought I would do bullet nails!

I did two coats of Sally Hansen Golden-I and let it dry.  I then painted a wide tip with Essie Leggy Legend, which is the copper color, then a final thin tip with Color Club Wild Orchid for the gray.  I actually skipped a top coat since I thought they would look more like bullets without than with a shiny top coat.  I think they turned out cute for such a quick job and the people at the show got a kick out of them!

Disc Golf and Sun Shine Inspired Nail Art

Hello my fellow polish and nail art addicts!  I have recently taken up Disc golf and by taken up I mean walking around the course laughing at how bad I am!  I have a lot to learn about the finer points of disc golf but the wonderful sunshine and fresh air I am getting while doing so is soooo refreshing after this cold winter, plus I'm having a blast!  It has also inspired the very bright mani below!

To create this mani I did a base coat, then did a coat of Orly Have Courage, which is a very, very bright orange.  I then used a make up sponge to dab on Zoya Purity, a very bright white, to make the yellow's pop instead of blending in with orange.  I then sponged on L'Oreal Tweet Me and Rimmel Sunny Days and sealed it all with a top coat of Seche Vite.

Hooray for bright mani's, fresh air and disc golf!  So far this spring is off to a great start and lots of good things are planned for 2016!  Thanks for looking and check back soon for more fun designs!

Happy Easter!!!

Happy Easter everyone!  I hope you are enjoying a beautiful weekend with your friends and families and are eating plenty of candy! I decided to go a little simpler this year than I have in the past few years and came up with a pastel dotticure/Easter Egg theme that I just love!

The colors I used for this mani are listed below.  I used a dotting tool to make the dots but you can use an embossing tool or even a bobby pin to recreate this design!  I did also add a coat of INM Northern Lights Holo top coat to finish it off.  It gives it just the right amount of glitter and has quickly become my new favorite finisher!

Sinful Colors Sugar Rush - blue
L'Oreal New Money - green
KleanColor Mango - orange
Sinful Colors Pink Smart - pink
Sally Hansen Mellow Yellow - yellow

I hope your Easter Baskets are overflowing with chocolate and your Sunday dinner is warm and savory!  Thanks for looking and I'll have more designs coming soon!
